The Let's Encrypt certificate authority provides completely free SSL/TLS certificates that are accepted by all modern browsers. This means that with a Let's Encrypt certificate, you and your site visitors will be able to access your website through a secure connection (https://) without receiving warnings. Certificates are renewed every 60 days through a process that is completely automated.
The major advantage of Let's Encrypt certificates is the free automated process for obtaining them, along with the encryption that they provide. They are domain-validated certificates, meaning that the verification consists only of confirming that they are installed by the domain owner. Unlike commercial certificates, they do not provide the green bar of organization validation certificates, a warranty of misuse or mis-issuance, or additional features such a site seal.
You can read more about Let's Encrypt on their web site: https://letsencrypt.org/.
In case your hosting provider offers the ability to install Let's Encrypt certificates, you will see a Let's Encrypt section in your hosting Control Panel > SSL/HTTPS section.
You can install Let's Encrypt certificates for your domains/subdomains/parked domains through the hosting Control Panel -> section SSL/HTTPS -> Let's Encrypt certificates if your hosting provider offers the ability to have Let's Encrypt certificates.
In this section, you can select the hostnames/FQDNs for which you want to issue a Let's Encrypt certificate. If you want to have a certificate issued for all subdomains of a domain name, you should create a certificate for the * (wildcard) subdomain. Once you make your selection, press the button Enable. Doing this will automatically request certificates for the chosen hostnames and will have them installed on the server. If the selected hostname (domain/subdomain) is not pointed to our hosting service, you will not be able to issue and install a Let's Encrypt certificate for it. This is due to the specifics of the issuance of Let's Encrypt certificates. Attempts to issue a certificate for a hostname that does not point to our service will end as Failed.
Once you have the certificates installed, they will be automatically renewed every 60 days. There are no additional actions you need to take.
If you want to disable a certificate, then you simply need to choose the proper hostnames from the table, and press the button Disable.
In case you have additional domains parked to the account, the dropdown Show hostnames of: allows you to select the domain which hostnames would be displayed on the screen. Domains/subdomains are ordered in an alphabetical order.
IMPORTANT NOTICES:
If you install a Let's Encrypt certificate for a hostname on which you already have a commercial certificate installed, the Let's Encrypt certificate will be served with priority. Once you deinstall the Let's Encrypt certificate, your commercial certificate will be restored.
Let's Encrypt has a limit of 20 certificates per week per domain. This limit includes certificates for the subdomains of the same domain as well.
The Let's Encrypt certificates manager allows you to install a Let's Encrypt certificate for mbox.your_domain.com - this is the location of your Webmail program.
To enable the certificate for your Webmail, you simply need to locate the mbox.your_domain.com hostname in the list of domains/subdomains in the Let's Encrypt certificates manager, check the box in front of it, and use the button Enable. If you have parked domains on your account and you use any of them to access your Webmail program (eg. mbox.parked_domain.com), you need to enable a certificate for each domain. If you enable a certificate for your * (wildcard) subdomain, it will be effective for your mbox subdomain as well.
Note: As with any other hostname, you must have mbox.your_domain.com pointed to our hosting service to be able to install a Let's Encrypt certificate for it.
The installation of a Let's Encrypt certificate for other URLs of the webmail program (such as webmail.your_domain.com or mailbox.your_domain.com) is not supported.
